The parts of speech: nouns
Think about the names of things around you. You are probably looking at a computer or smartphone right now. The words “computer” and “smartphone” are both nouns
The eight parts of speech of English:
- nouns
- pronouns
- adjectives
- verbs
- adverbs
- prepositions
- conjunctions
- interjections
A noun is the name of a person, place, or thing.
For example: The city of London is a noun. The name Christopher is a noun. Things are nouns, like animals (living) and rocks (non-living). An idea, condition, and quality are also nouns.
