Every sentence must have at least one verb!

Irregular Verbs

The rebels of the verb world - they don't follow standard patterns!

go → went → gone
be → was/were → been
have → had → had

Tip: The "be" verb is the most irregular verb and is the most common!

🎭 Transitive vs Intransitive Verbs

Can the verb "transfer" a subject's action to an object? That's the key question!

✅ Transitive Verbs

These verbs need an object to complete their meaning.

Subject + Verb + Object
They drink coffee every morning.
↳ Coffee is what they drink
Sarah visits the store.
↳ The store is what Sarah visits
❌ Intransitive Verbs

These verbs are complete by themselves - no object needed!

Subject + Verb (+ Optional Info)
Sarah goes to the store.
↳ "To the store" is a place, not an object
The baby sleeps peacefully.
↳ "Peacefully" describes how, not what

🎪 Plot Twist!

Most action verbs can be either transitive or intransitive depending on how they're used!

"I read books." (Transitive)
"I read every day." (Intransitive)
